Be part of history as one of the first guests onboard Golden Horizon, the world’s largest square-rigged sailing vessel, as she embarks on her maiden voyage around the British Isles.

Thursday, 01 July 2021: Harwich

Step aboard the beautiful Golden Horizon in Harwich and enjoy the casual ambience and elegant surroundings. This is sure to be a unique experience with like-minded adventurers, looking to escape and enjoy the tranquillity of the sea.

Friday, 02 July 2021: Sea

Your voyage begins as the wind guides the way, heading around the Norfolk coast and into the North Sea. A day at sea gives you the perfect chance to sample the superb on-board facilities, this may be a dip in one of the pools, a treatment at the spa, or simply relaxing on deck with a book and your favourite drink.

Saturday, 03 July 2021: Whitby

Arriving at Whitby on the Yorkshire coast, you will be greeted by the dominant Abbey, which overlooks the colourful harbour below. Explore this lovely town, with its cobbled streets and be sure to try the famous local fish and chips. Round from the pier, there are also expansive sandy beaches, or take a walk up the headland to enjoy the panoramic views.

Sunday, 04 July 2021: Newcastle

Our next port of call is vibrant Newcastle-upon-Tyne, a colourful university city. Enjoy a stroll along the popular Quayside, filled with shops, bars and restaurants and admire the magnificent Millenium Bridge that spans the River Tyne. In the city centre, the St Nicholas Cathedral here is the most northern in England, whilst you can also climb up the famous Grey’s Monument to enjoy views across the cityscape.

Monday, 05 July 2021: Berwick Upon Tweed

At the top of Northumberland, we call at pretty Berwick-upon-Tweed, with its charming, cobbled streets, interesting castle ruins and nearby sandy beaches. Get your bearings by walking along the Elizabethan walls – the ramparts completely surrounding the town are one of the best preserved examples of bastioned walls in Europe.

Tuesday, 06 July 2021: Leith

Crossing the border into Scotland now, we moor in Leith, on the shores of the Firth of Forth and known as the gateway to capital Edinburgh. The original harbour here dates back to the 14th century and is the location of the Royal Yacht Britannia. Heading into Edinburgh itself, the top sights include the majestic castle and the medieval Royal Mile, which leads down to Holyrood Palace.

Wednesday, 07 July 2021: Aberdeen

Sailing northwards, we call at the city of Aberdeen, home to a fascinating Maritime Museum and Art Gallery. Those venturing further into Abredeenshire can enjoy a hike in the Cairngorms National Park, the largest nature reserve in Scotland, home to many beautiful country estates, including Her Majesty’s Balmoral Castle.

Thursday, 08 July 2021: Invergordon

Passing round Scotland’s beautiful Banffshire coast and into the Cromarty Firth, we’ll reach the historic town of Invergordon, now a major port for visitors to Loch Ness and the Highlands beyond. Walks through the town will take you past imposing churches, war memorials and colourful murals, with scenic coastal and woodland walks further afield.

Friday, 09 July 2021: Scapa Flow

Take in the rugged scenery of the Orkney Isles comes into view today as we cruise into the Scapa Flow. The landscape here encompasses the high Hills of Hoy and the heather covered slopes of the Orkney mainland – this is also designated a National Scenic Area of Scotland. Scapa Flow is also a renowned location for those interested in maritime history, with vast battleships resting in the waters below.

Saturday, 10 July 2021: Ullapool

Our voyage takes us around the northern coast of Scotland and through the Summer Isles, where we call at the traditional town of Ullapool, on the shores of Loch Broom. The coast here along Wester Ross is one of the UK’s top spots for spotting whales, porpoise and dolphins - our crew will also keep a look out for us as we sail.

Sunday, 11 July 2021: Portree

Making our way southwards and into the inner Hebrides, we pass wild landscapes and rock formations, including the dramatic Old Man of Storr, as we reach Portree, the main town on the Isle of Skye. Admire the quaint houses set around the natural harbour, with a beautiful backdrop of hills and cliffs.

Monday, 12 July 2021: Tobermory

Sailing now past the Small Isles of Rum, Canna and Laig, our next port of call is colourful Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Explore the sheltered bay and fishing port, with the iconic coloured houses clinging to the coastline. Visit the local distillery and Marine Visitor Centre or enjoy a traditional wee dram at one of the cosy pubs.

Tuesday, 13 July 2021: Fort William

We cruise inland today, down Loch Linnhe, taking in fantastic views of Ben Nevis as we reach Fort William. In Scotland’s West Highlands, the town is referred to as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’, with the Lochaber area boasting beautiful beaches and dramatic hills, as well as many historic castles.

Wednesday, 14 July 2021: Port Ellen, Islay

We sail back down the loch, passing the Isle of Jura and coastal inlets to call at Port Ellen on the Isle of Islay, where we are greeted by the unusual square shaped lighthouse and quaint, white-washed terraces. This small island has a long whisky heritage, with eight working distilleries here including Lagavulin, Laphroig and Ardbeg.

Thursday 15 July 2021: Greenock (Glasgow)

On our final day, we cruise around the Kintyre peninsula, home of the Wings’ famous Mull of Kintyre, passing the Isles of Arran and Bute, into the Firth of Clyde, to reach Greenock, port for the cosmopolitan city of Glasgow.
